I know that "Jehova" probably is a medieval misinterpretation. But when it is about really bad puns, a Monty Python reference sometimes outweighs historical accuracy.

I'm pretty sure 'Jehovah' is a translation from another language. it's not a misinterpretation. But whether you believe it or not is up to you.

Well most scholars agree today that "Jehovah" is a vocalization of Hebrew "JHWH" - the name of God. Ancient Hebrew was written without the vowels and those were later added the text. However, as the name of God is sacred in judaism it was usually combined with the vowels of "adonai" (Lord) or "elohim" (God) as these attributes were usually read insted of the name.
