On genes

There is only 2% difference between the chimpanzee and human genomes. What is most fascinating is that these 2% difference are mainly not in the regions encoding for genes but in the regions regulating genes (Read e.g. for more info). And that's one of the things creationists just don't get. Changing regulation can create interesting effects with rather low risk of monstrosities - it's like a cake recipy: Changing the amount of sugar/apples whatever will change the cake considerably and make it more appealing to some (and appalling to othrs) but it will still be a functional cake. Of course, sometimes gene-mutations (the equivalent of exchanging apples to something else) will occur. That's how cherry cakes arise while turd cake recipies will not be replicated.
